Have You Ever Considered Using A Natural Skin Care Cream?

There must be good reasons for using a natural skin care cream, everyone seems to be doing so now, but what are they? And what exactly is “natural” anyway?

Last question first. What does natural mean when you use it in a skin care context? There is no really one single answer. No clear definition of what natural skin care really is. Despite the fact that there are many natural anti aging skin care creams and other products on the market.

What is the difference between a natural skin care product, a botanical skin care product, an organic skin care product and a herbal skin care product? Is there any difference?

Whilst there is no formal definition that doesn’t mean that it is meaningless. It just means that the industry has no real way of establishing clearly what is natural and what is not.

So I tend to use my own definition when asked this question. But to formulate your own definition I need to first consider why people would want to use a natural skin care product. Why would they buy these over “ordinary” mainstream skin care products?

There’s a simple answer. Most of the big name skin care products that you see on the shelves have one or more, often many, synthetic chemicals that some scientist somewhere has found performs a function. Some of them are found no where in nature.

One of the reasons for this is that it is often much cheaper to manufacture chemical ingredients than it is to take ingredients from nature.

Parabens is an example. These are a range of chemicals that are used in many products, not just skin care products, as preservatives. Why? Because they are very cheap to manufacture. But there’s a problem with finding Parabens in your products. Many consider that they are dangerous if used extensively and could cause cancer. But they’re cheap.

There’s very many ingredients used in mainstream skin care products that are considered to be a risk to health from long term use. Chemical (and petrochemical) ingredients that many people don’t want to be putting on their skin.

So there are huge numbers of customers now turning to more natural, or herbal, or botanical or organic skin care products because they see a potential risk in the use of skin care products with chemical ingredients.

So from this information I can make my own definition. I consider a natural skin care product to be one which only uses ingredients that are found naturally somewhere and also which are known to be safe for human use. And there’s another part to the definition.

The product has to work really well too, there’s no point in buying a skin care product comprised of natural ingredients that doesn’t do anything, (despite the fact that many mainstream products often do very little).

It’s surprising but the best natural skin care products often work way better than the mainstream products.

So despite the fact that there is no formal definition of what a natural skin care cream is there are still powerful reasons to use one, and that’s why natural skin care is one of the fastest growing segments of the market.

They’re safer and work better than the big brands.

And amongst natural skin care brands there’s one brand that stands out head and shoulders above the rest. Visit my website to find out which brand.

Finding Foods That Help Improve Skin Elasticity In Aging Skin

Can eating foods that help improve skin elasticity in aging skin actually improve your skin health?

Sadly though maintaining skin elasticity into older age isn’t quite as simple as eating 2 or 3 foods.

But there’s no doubt at all that your general diet is extremely important to your overall skin health. Eating a good diet is extremely important to maintaining skin health into older age.

A healthy diet is good for general health and skin health. So the advice you see everywhere about diet is as important for your skin as for your body. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, reduce fat, especially saturated fat, reduce salt and sugar intake and make sure you do this permanently.

But there are many people who think that there are miracle foods that help improve skin elasticity in aging skin and which help slow the skin aging process. And to some extent that’s true. But actually producing the result you want, namely to improve your skin health and the looks of your skin simply by eating isn’t as easy as you might expect.

Here’s 2 of them.

1. Omega 3 you’re probably familiar with. It’s a good fat found in oily fish and in some other foods and it’s recommended for heart health and has some other benefits for the body too. But you may be unaware that omega 3 fats are also very good for your skin.

For a whole range of reasons a diet high in omega 3 fats is very important and you ought to be aware of this. But it’s not quite as easy ensuring that you eat a lot of omega 3. Some societies eat a lot of the right types of fish, for example, but we tend not to. And fish can be very expensive and getting more so.

2. Next comes phytessence wakame, a seaweed. You can eat it, although it may not sound quite as appetizing as it could. But the Japanese have eaten phytessence wakame for centuries, dried and fresh, and it is a big part of the Japanese diet.

And its no coincidence that Japanese women have the worlds best skin right into old age. And science knows why this is, its because of all that seaweed they eat right throughout their lives.

There’s all sorts of reasons why phytessence wakame is so good for your skin, but that’s the subject of another article. I’ve written a lot more about it on my website.

That’s 2 foods that help improve skin elasticity in aging skin and there’s more, but I’m leading up to a point here.

So there’s no doubt that eating a generally healthy diet is very good for your skin right through life, but actually finding specific foods that help improve skin health and things like skin elasticity isn’t easy.

And in many cases the active ingredients in some foods can actually be better for your skin when applied directly to your skin, rather than eaten.

So if finding foods and eating them isn’t the best way to improve skin elasticity what is the best way?

What you can do is to use the best natural skin care products that contain all these ingredients in one easy to use product.

Sadly the big name skin care products that you find on the shelves of the stores don’t use ingredients like these, they use chemical ingredients that are manufactured. But you can find niche natural skincare companies that make products that really do use these natural ingredients, and their products are extremely effective. And you don’t need to spend very night eating fish wrapped in seaweed. Btu remember it is important to eat a generally healthy diet.

If you’re specifically interested in improving skin elasticity then the best way by far is to use natural skin care products that contain ingredients from the best foods, as well as from many other natural sources.

I write more about these products on my website.

3 Essential Ingredients In The Best Dry Skin Lotion

Previously I have talked about dry skin, and why you could be suffering dry skin problems. And I’ve suggested some simple things you can do to combat dry skin like changing your soaps and shampoos.

And I alerted you to the fact that many big name skin care and anti aging products actually damage, and dry, your skin.

And also that you ought to be using the best dry skin lotion, or the best natural skin care products that you can get to combat your dry skin.

But I’m not here to tell you the best dry skin lotion, in fact I’m going to suggest that you stop looking for the best dry skin lotion. Why? Because the best way to tackle dry skin is to try to maintain good overall skin health through good skin care, and this will eliminate the dry skin problem.

Lets see why the worlds best natural skin care products could in fact be the very best dry skin cream for you.

The first essential factor in looking at any skin care regime is that the products do not harm your skin. That’s essential. And sadly you can’t take that for granted, because many big name skin care products do harm your skin.

Secondly, there are some excellent naturally occurring ingredients that work extremely well to combat dry skin, and at the same time promote overall skin health. They have been used by some women for generations to complement their skin health and still work very well. Unfortunately the big brands don’t use them because chemical ingredients are usually much cheaper.

Here’s 3 ingredients that make one product in particular the worlds best natural skin care product and best dry skin lotion all at the same time.

1. Phytessence Wakame. What is Phytessence Wakame? It is a Japanese seaweed prized by Japanese women for centuries for the beneficial effects on the skin. It is eaten regularly in the Japanese diet.

Phytessence Wakame is full of all sorts of essential vitamins and minerals and other ingredients that are good for the skin. And as well as being generally good for healthy skin it is essential to help dry skin problems. It helps heal dry skin as well as skin inflammation and skin irritation. And if you suffer from dry skin you’ll know all about these.

2. Cynergy TK. Cynergy TK is a newly found and patented ingredient found in only very few of the worlds absolute best skin care products. It is a form of keratin which is an essential component of your skin and comes from the wool of sheep. I won’t go into all the technical details here about why it works so well, but Cynergy TK is an essential ingredient in any skin care products for any woman with dry skin.

What it does, in effect and amongst other things, is to form a thin protective and invisible layer on your skin that helps the skin retain moisture itself, and stops moisture loss. This ingredient alone will make a huge different to your dry skin problem.

3. Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10. Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10 is a variant on Coenzyme Q10, and a much more effective and refined version. Coenzyme Q10 is found in the cells of our bodies and diminishes with age, so we need to replace it, or our skin health declines. Now of course you’ve probably seen Coenzyme Q10 in many skin care products, the problem is that the form of Coenzyme Q10 used in these products doesn’t actively penetrate the skin, so does little.

But Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10 is a more modern form of Coenzyme Q10 that is able to penetrate the skin because it has extremely small molecules, and so replenishes out stores of Coenzyme Q10. It has a dramatic effect on reducing skin sagging and wrinkling and contains about 10% vitamin E, also very important for our skin health.

And it nourishes the skin, helping maintain skin supplies of collagen and elastin, and it increases skin cell health, all important to maintaining skin moisture balance. And maintaining skin moisture balance is the best way of combating dry skin.

But Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10 is really expensive.

There’s the 3 essential ingredients of the best dry skin lotion, or what is in effect the best natural skin care product available in the world today.

So the best skin care products in the world use the best ingredients known to science, and these ingredients are really expensive.

So it would seem reasonable to assume that the products are really expensive if the ingredients are. But no they aren’t, and this is why. It’s all about company marketing policies and product philosophy.

You see the big name skin care and anti aging brands spend huge amounts on marketing, particularly TV advertising. Those TV ads with megastars cost big dollars, and all that goes into the cost of the products. They spend as little as they can on product quality (hence the cheap chemical ingredients), and spend the maximum on marketing.

But there is one small company that is a small niche skin care company that makes natural skin care products that contain all these ingredients (and more). But it doesn’t advertise, and spends all it’s budget on product quality rather than TV advertising, so chances are you’ve never heard of them.

And because you’ve never heard of them they offer a full money back guarantee so that potential customers can try the products risk free. That’s how they do their marketing and they rely on the fact that when they have a new customer they have that customer for life.

So no, their products aren’t really expensive at all, in fact they are very competitively priced. So if you’ve got dry skin and you’ve been trying all sorts of dry skin creams with little result, there is a solution and it’s not about finding the best dry skin lotion, it’s about using high quality natural skin care products that take care of your dry skin problem by promoting overall skin health.

They really are the best dry skin lotion in the world.

Why Should Your Anti Aging Moisturizer Be Paraben Free?

Many people now search for paraben free anti aging products and skin care products and cosmetics. Why would the best anti aging moisturizer be paraben free and what are parabens?

Parabens are chemicals that are found in many of the personal products that so many of us use today. They are actually a range of chemicals rather than one particular chemical.

Parabens are used in these products as preservatives and they work very well as preservatives and are exceedingly cheap. There are other alternatives for use as preservatives however these are generally more expensive. But there is some doubt about the safety of parabens in our personal products.

There are studies which have linked parabens in personal products to breast cancer for example. One study found that’ out of 20 breast cancer tissue samples tested contained parabens in them. Whilst the fact that these cancer tissue samples contain parabens is not proof that parabens caused the cancer it is certainly something that makes you wonder. However to date there are no conclusive studies proving that parabens causes cancer or other human diseases.

It is known that parabens will penetrate the skin. Studies have shown that when parabens are applied to the skin they can be found in the blood within hours. Clearly they penetrate our bodies which is also worrying.

And as well is this it has been shown that various parabens can mimic the role in the body of the female hormone estrogen. This is also worrying.

The precautionary principle says that we should avoid using ingredients such as these until they are proven safe however the reality is that until they are proven to be unsafe they will continue to be used in products that most of us use every day.

For these reasons many people choose to select paraben free products. For example those searching for anti aging moisturizers can find excellent quality paraben free anti aging moisturizers which use natural preservatives which work as preservatives and which are non-toxic.

There is a clear debate about the safety of parabens in our personal products and whilst it is unclear whether they are safe or not the decision to use products that contain or do not contain parabens is entirely your decision. But many people are now seeking to buy paraben free anti aging products.

There are now small companies that make excellent anti aging skin care products who choose to make those products entirely paraben free. They are excellent quality paraben free anti aging products that work exceptionally well, and are also free of a range of other suspect ingredients as well.

I try to educate consumers about the dangers of so many ingredients found in so many of our personal products such as anti aging products. I do this on my website where I also point out the alternatives for excellent quality paraben free anti aging skin care products. Find out more on my website.

What YOu Don’t Want To Know About Moisturizers For Oily Skin.

Moisturizers for oily skin along with all sorts of other skin care products are very big business but unfortunately for most people the reality is that their moisturizers are relatively ineffective and can even be risky to their health and irritating to their skin as a result of the fact that most of them contain nasty ingredients.

Most of the big name brands of skin care products that you will see on the shelves of your local store have a range of chemical and petrochemical ingredients. There are many many examples however I’ll give you one which should suffice.

Mineral oil is commonly found in a wide range of personal and beauty products including skin care products such as moisturizers for oily skin and moisturizers for dry skin.

Mineral oil is a petrochemical product that is a byproduct of the distillation of crude oil. Mineral oil goes by a wide range of different names and so even if you look on the label of the skin care products you use now you may not see mineral oil listed there even though it is an ingredient in the product because it is being listed under a different name.

Mineral oil has no moisturizing properties. The intention is that it will coat the skin with a thin film of oil which will help prevent moisture loss from the skin. However mineral oil does not add any moisture to the skin, and when it forms a layer of oil over the skin it can cause problems such as acne and it can also prevent the skin from eliminating toxins through the pores.

Mineral oil has been linked to cancer as well as allergies and irritation of the skin and eyes. It can be absorbed into the body small amounts where it can create vitamin deficiency problems.

So why would mineral oil be used in beauty and personal care products such as skin care products that so many consumers use every single day? The reason is simple, the reason is that mineral oil is incredibly cheap.

There are many excellent natural alternatives to using mineral oil in products such as moisturizers for oily skin and moisturizers for dry skin. Some good examples are Avocado extract, Shea butter and Babassu oil as well as a wide range of other naturally occurring ingredients all of which have been known for some time to have excellent skin moisturizing properties and which are much more effective as skin moisturizers than mineral oil.

And it’s perfectly possible to buy outstanding natural skin care products which use ingredients like these to produce an excellent result at increasing skin moisture levels. One company in particular produces an excellent range of skin care products containing no chemical or petrochemical ingredients that work very well at promoting overall skin health and skin moisture. And this company doesn’t even produce a moisturizer at all because all of it’s products work equally well to improve skin moisture for anyone with oily skin problems or dry skin problems.

So clearly these natural skin care products must be very expensive if the ingredients used in them are more expensive however that is not the case. This company does not engage in any television advertising and so the cost of television advertising is not factored into the price of the products as they are in most mainstream skin care products such as oily skin creams. For this reason their natural skin care products are in fact very competitively priced.

If you’re looking for a moisturizer for oily skin then there are excellent natural skin care products available right now that avoid the need to purchase those oily skin creams and oily skin moisturizers that you see on the shelves containing suspect ingredients like mineral oil.

No one with oily skin, or for that matter with dry skin, should have problems skin moisturizing. Excellent natural skin care products exist which moisturize very effectively for people with all skin types.

Got Stretch Marks? Want To Get Rid Of Them?

If you’ve just become a mom you know how happy your new baby can make you. But you also may know how unhappy your new stretch marks may also make you.

So many women are concerned about getting rid of their new stretch marks. Not all new mothers have stretch marks to show off, but it’s estimated that over 75% do.

There’s a number of reasons you may get stretch marks when you’re pregnant, and stretch marks aren’t confined to pregnancy. Girls can, for example, also get them during puberty.

Firstly it can be genetic, so if your mum had them chances are greater that you will too.

So how do you remove stretch marks? What options do you have?

There is a relatively wide range of options, but none are guaranteed. Some mothers do nothing and hope they’ll go away, some just use a simple moisturizer and hope.

And there is the risky and expensive options like cosmetic surgery like laser treatments.

And there’s also some creams that you can try that are specifically designed to target stretch marks but are not guaranteed to work either, and may also have risks.

Or you could try micro dermabrasion if you’re brave.

And then there is the safer more natural route. A little more work but less risky and more natural involving such things as dietary changes and herbal products. Not guaranteed, nothing is, but it will offer you a simpler safer route that may take a little more work.

Many women don’t realize that there is an alternative more natural, cheaper approach that doesn’t involve some of the expense and risk of some other methods.

You may not have avoided stretch marks but you do have options for removing them. There’s safe natural and less expensive ways to do so if the risks and cost of some other options scares you.

Dangerous Cosmetics Rampage. But There Are Safe Cosmetics.

Everyone should be able to assume that they use safe cosmetics. After all why would the cosmetics you use be dangerous? However, sadly, you can’t assume that you use safe cosmetics and you can’t assume that the government protects you from dangerous cosmetics. But surely the products that you use should be safe?

No you aren’t using safe cosmetics if you’re using big brand name cosmetics. The government doesn’t protect you against dangerous ingredients in your cosmetics and the cosmetics companies don’t either. There is a whole range of nasty ingredients in your big brand name cosmetics including lead, dioxane and parabens.

Doesn’t the FDA do something about this? Sadly again, no. The FDA does not test or examine cosmetic products to establish that they are safe for human use and don’t contain harmful ingredients, and even admit to this on the FDA website. The government does not act in our best interests by ensuring that the cosmetics that millions of American women use every single day are safe to use, and as a result we have dangerous cosmetics on the shelves of our major department stores.

The situation is so bad that there are now entire organizations set up to raise public awareness of this problem. Primary amongst them is one called the Campaign For Safe Cosmetics.

But the government isn’t listening to the Campaign For Safe Cosmetics, and the cosmetics companies aren’t either. And so there is nothing being done to raise the safety of those blushes, mascaras, eye shadows, lipsticks, bronzers and more that US women use daily, not realizing that they may be damaging their health.

There’s lots of examples, here’s 2.

The Campaign For Safe Cosmetics did some tests of major big brand name lipsticks back in 2007. The results were amazing. Over 50% of the big brand name lipsticks including brands you may well use now contained lead. Over 50%! And that includes some of the biggest names in lipsticks.

In 2002 laboratory testing found Phthalates, a family of industrial chemicals linked to birth defects and abnormalities in male genitals and feminization of males, in the majority of 72 common brand name personal care products, beauty products and cosmetics that we all use day to day. These included products by some of the biggest names in the industry, including Revlon, Christian Dior, Calvin Klein and Proctor and Gamble.

And products tested includes common everyday products used by almost everyone like toothpastes and shampoos.

Despite the fact that Phthalates weren’t listed on the labels they were found in 52 of 72 products tested.

Isn’t that scary?

Is it possible to buy safe cosmetics? Yes it is, in fact the Campaign For Safe Cosmetics runs a register of companies that are prepared to sign a compact pledging the company to make products using only known safe ingredients. And there are some excellent safe cosmetics to be found, but you won’t find them on the shelves of your local store.

And the companies that make them aren’t household names, in fact chances are that you’ve never heard of them. But their products, including their safe cosmetics, are first class.

Want to know more about safe cosmetics? Visit my website.

Baldness and Hair Loss Advice

For millions of people world-wide, everyday is a “bad hair” day due to the problem of thinning hair or baldness. Discussing hair loss with a doctor is an important first step. There are a number of treatments available these days that make hair loss or thinning hair easier to live with. A concern not only experienced by men but by a growing number of women is Alopecia, or the excessive and abnormal loss of healthy hair. Traumatic situations and genetics can be the cause of hair thinning and loss and also by hormonal fluctuations, excessive physical force or poor nutrition. While these factors can affect both men and women, hair thinning and loss usually occurs for:

Men Hair loss is due to the presence of a derivative or by-product of testosterone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This hormone can shrink the hair follicles and has a greater effect in the mid-anterior scalp and temples. A thinning crown or receding hair line is the most common pattern of hair loss. Some types of male hair loss are: Androgenetic Alopecia – occurs due to genetic sensitivity to male hormones. This very rarely affects females. Acute diffuse alopecia – caused by physical or psychological factors like hormones, nutritional deficiencies or prescriptions. Chronic Diffuse Alopecia – due to nutritional, metabolic or endocrine matters.

Women Most cases of hair thinning and loss are as a result of hormonal fluctuations, ie during pregnancy, childbirth or use of some methods of birth control. Women can also experience: Anagen effluvium – occurs due to chemotherapy. The matrix of the hair becomes damaged and, as a result, the hair shaft will narrow, eventually fracturing. Traction alopecia – caused by severe hairstyles, such as ponytails that are too tight, braiding, cornrows or the frequent use of extensions. These procedures pull at hair over a period of time but loss can be prevented if recognized and treated early.

You can minimize or even stop hair thinning or loss, if you identify the symptoms early enough, by using a variety of pharmacy or store treatments such as: a). A weekly use, leave-in scalp treatment made with essential oils – oils such as lavender and orange will relax and unblock hair follicles to promote growth, regulate oil production and maintain cell repair. b). Daily vitamin supplement – look for ones labelled especially for hair and/or nails and are fortified with Vitamin B3 (niacin), this protects the hair shaft, and antioxidants, to ward off damage from free radicals. c). Use a hair shampoo that has “energizing/revitalizing/fortifying/” on the label. This type of hair shampoo will feed and protect your existing hair whilst eliminating oils that can block the follicles and prevent re-growth. Allow approximately 6-8 weeks before expecting to see any firm results. Like any treatment, results can vary and may to need to be used on a prolonged basis.

Disguising hair loss techniques: Maybe it’s time to consider some techniques to disguise your hair loss if you are dissatisfied with your thinning hair. Whether you’re male or female losing hair due to genetics, stress, medication or a medical circumstance you can use these methods to help you cope. Using a Thickening Hair Shampoo or Conditioner Use a thickening hair shampoo and conditioner intended to camouflage hair loss by making the hair seem to be thicker. Brush your hair lightly after you have shampooed and conditioned to prevent losing even more hair, and let your hair dry completely before you comb or brush it.

Styling Techniques If your hair is not as thick as it once was, there are a number of hair styling methods and hair styling products that can be employed to keep your hair looking its best at any age. Try to avoid hair gels as they only matte your hair and highlight your hair loss. Instead use hair texturizing creams and lotions that give you volume and fullness. Another good option is to use a leave-in hair conditioner that can make your hair emerge more textured and fuller. For a fuller look try blow drying your hair – For hair that is getting thin on top, try blow drying after you have washed and conditioned, then comb your hair in front directly back. Use mousse or a light hair spray to maintain the style. The blow drying will stop your hair from matting together and looking thinner.

Extending your Hair Hair extensions are a quick and simple method for men and women with long thick hair to disguise the fact that they are losing some hair. Employ a salon for adding natural human hair to your head. This option can last for several weeks to several months.

Blow-drying your Hair Think about blow drying your hair if it is thinning on top to give it more texture and body and to give your head more coverage. Brush your hair into a quiff by brushing it from the forehead up. Preserve your hair style with a touch of hairspray. If your hair is thinning all over, this is a good and effective technique to make your hair look fuller. Get a Buzz Cut – Guys Actors, sports stars, and businessmen all employ the buzz cut as a method of hiding the fact that they are thinning on top. It is a trendy, popular style that is easy to keep up. Purchase a wet-dry electric razor to groom your scalp every day and to remove the hairs you have remaining for a fresh look. If you’re worried about losing your hair or if your hair is beginning to thin, pay a visit to your barber or stylist and ask for suggestions for a new hair style. There are plenty of hairstyles to choose from that will permit you to look your very best.

Salon Hair Care Products vs. Cheap High Street Hair Products

Great looking hair that is really healthy and clean makes you feel better about yourself and makes you look healthier and cleaner to other people. Keeping your hair looking this way is important, and using good quality hair products such as shampoo and conditioner is vital. But when it’s time to buy your hair care products, how do you know which are the best ones to use?

High street products seem much more affordable and therefore giving you better value for money because of the low cost of high street hair products. Branded premium salon products can appear pricey with the average 300ml shampoo bottle priced at 5 times the cost ($20/GBP10) of a regular high street shampoo ($4/GBP2).

On just this kind of price comparison alone, it appears that the cheap high street hair products are the winners as you are getting 5 times as much product for the same cost, or the same amount of product for 1/5 the price of the salon professional hair care products.

But when you look into this further, and take into consideration the quality and the effectiveness of the different hair care products, do the figures actually stack up in favour of the cheaper products, or are cheap high street hair care products a false economy? Let?s find out?

To see if cheaper high street hair products provide more value for money in both the short and long term when compared with professional salon hair care products, we made the decision to test them both to see how each of the hair products compare against one another in a quality test.

In our test we compared a 300ml bottle of an average high street shampoo, and an equivalent 300ml bottle of salon professional shampoo. The high street shampoo needed about 50ml per application to clean the hair to our required standard, whereas the salon shampoo needed only 10ml per application to clean the hair to the same required standard.

The high street hair shampoo, using a 50ml application, provides 6 applications per 300ml bottle (approximately). The professional shampoo, using a 10ml application, provides around 30 applications per 300ml. Hence the high street shampoo worked out at $0.64c/GBP0.32p whilst the professional shampoo came in at $0.66c/GBP0.33p.

Result: although the high street shampoo appears to be better value, in truth there is very little difference in cost compared to the professional hair shampoo.
